The best iced coffee I’ve ever made

When I began working at Zabar’s one of the first houseware purchases I made was the Aerobie AeroPress. I remember meeting with Ann Zabar in her office and hearing her tout the merits of the AeroPress. She was learning the art of cupping from her father Saul Zabar, the king of coffee roasting (cupping is tasting coffee roasts, watch this video for more about cupping & Zabar’s coffee).

So into retirement went my French Press and into my daily coffee routine went the Aeropress. It makes hands down then best cup of espresso / coffee that I ever made at home. For around $30.

And in this heat wave, the only way I’m drinking it is iced. It’s delicious.

Here are my favorite ways to drink it:

1. Straight espresso – ok, this isn’t iced, but I just had to mention it.
2. Iced Coffee – for this I actually prepare coffee ice cubes. Seriously. I brew some Americano and freeze it in an ice cube tray. Once I have these I can just brew an Americano and have it iced, without being watered down anytime! (Watch the video below to see how an Americano coffee is made.)
3. Vietnamese Iced Coffee style – this is over ice and with a couple of tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk. I don’t water down the espresso into an Americano, I just pour it hot over a full glass of ice and the melting ice makes just the right coffee ratio.

Thanks for the Vietnamese iced coffee tip, saved me a search.
I'm so glad more folks are discovering and talking about the Aerobie AeroPress. After eons of expensive and space consuming coffee pots, I had just switched to a FrenchPress (an improvement over my oldies) when I discovered the AeroPress. No going back ... donated all but the French Press but I never use it so ought to give it up also.
