A New Designer at Zabar's?

So many of you know Sandy, Zabar's remarkable Mail Order Department Manager. She's been here at Zabar's for years and drives holiday orders, customer service and is who keeps us all going through our busiest time of the year.

She shared this wonderful artwork that her son made, with us. Who knows maybe he'll be working along side of her one day

My son Noah drew this and sent it to me so that we can make a t-shirt with this design.  He is working on another one :)

 

Holiday Bagel report

 

Thank you for the wonderful Zabar's bagels!  My entire family enjoyed them over the holidays.  It was a special treat for former New Yorkers to have authentic bagels.  We all need a little Jewish Christmas!

Dear Diary:

At the end of a long day promoting my new cookbook, I boarded the M104 bus to go home. Rather than the usual hot, overcrowded and noisy ride, the bus was air-conditioned and almost empty. I sat at the back, near a mother with two very excited little girls.

A man sat across from us carrying a musical instrument. The girls chirped, “Is that a guitar?” He replied that it was a violin, opened the case and played a lovely rendition of “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” Next was “Happy Birthday” (for me), and then “Stardust.”

Thank you, sir, for a perfect New York moment.
